Cyprus to host ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship
The south coast city of Limassol will host the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship to take place July 13-20.

President of Cyprus Sailing Federation Yiannos Photiou speaking at a press conference Monday, said that despite the harsh economic situation, Cyprus authorities will do their utmost to organize the particular event in the best possible way.

He said that so far a total of 358 athletes and 113 coaches from 56 countries have registered. Photiou pointed out the importance of the event, recalling that Cypriot athlete Pavlos Kontides has won a silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics .

Cyprus getaways not effected by crisis!!

Tourism officials are seeking to reassure holidaymakers thinking of visiting the island that the ongoing banking crisis will not impact on their getaway.

The Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) told Travel Weekly that most hotels and restaurants are operating as normal and that ATMs are working fine following the bailout the country secured from the EU.

'With a wide range of attractive packages on offer, now is the time to time to look to trustworthy holiday operators and enjoy a sun-filled break to the island and experience the warm and friendly hospitality that Cyprus is so famed for,' commented CTO UK director Orestis Rossides.

The Foreign & Commonwealth Office is advising travellers that each person (including children) is only allowed to take €1,000 (£850) in cash out of Cyprus and that you can enter Northern Cyprus with a maximum of €500 or its equivalent in foreign notes. Different rules apply for residents.

Opodo cheap flights, hotels and car hire - let the journey begin!

Did you know that Limassol has a large network of public bikes for rent?

Dear Readers,

Did you know that Limassol has a large public bike network for rent. Information was recently published in the TripAdvisor Limassol destination forum.

In Limassol there is a network of public rental bikes called "Nextbike." There are stations dotted around town, one of which is at the port end of the corniche/promenade. Follow this link to look at the website. https://nextbike.net/cy/index.php… Basically, simple registration, credit card is required and phone number (any international number is usable including mobiles and landlines - ie if travelling from UK on holiday, use your UK mobile etc). Rental for the first hour is €2, then €1 per hour thereafter. 24 hours costs €8 & €50 for 1 week. If you rent at the prom station you can ride all the way up to the Amathus ruins up to St Raphael Resort.

St Raphael Resort do offer Bike Rental direct from the resort.

A nice bike ride along the Sea Front is an amazing way to relax and take in our beautiful island. Enjoy.
