On the topic of 'winners', we are pleased to have announced at our recent Staff Party, held in the Panorama Conference and Events Hall on the 13th of January, our two Employees of the Year. While competition was tough, the winner of the Front of House Category (voted by the guests over 2011 in all the questionnaire responses) was Mrs Kristina Tatsyy, our Guest Relations Officer from the Front Office Department. All the Heads of Departments got together to vote for the winner of the Back Of House category, and the winner was Mrs Effie Charalambous, our Accounts Supervisor from the Accounts Department. We would like to congratulate both of these members of staff once again, and also say a heart-felt thank you to all our staff, many of whom were highly commended by both guests and staff.
We were pleased to welcome Ivi Adamou and wish her the best of luck in this year's Eurovision Song Contest.

EUROPE’S BEST HOTELS REVEALED IN LONDON
It’s official - the first ever international five-stars have been awarded to a small number of outstanding hotels across Europe. Winners of the inaugural European Hotel Awards in association with Bloomberg Television were revealed at a high profile presentation dinner at the newly refurbished Savoy Hotel in London on Wednesday (January 18th).
The International Hotel Awards evolved from the International Property Awards, established 18 years ago, its award winners’ logo is recognised as a symbol of excellence throughout the global industry. A specific awards’ programme for the hospitality industry was launched due to an increasing number of entries within its commercial categories.
In addition to categories for different sized and specifically targeted hotels, the International Hotel Awards includes sections for the best hotel architecture, interior design, marketing and website covering the entire range of hotel disciplines. Entries are first judged at country level before the top scoring winners go forward to be re-judged internationally.
The judging panel consists of 20 professionals including James Bacon, UK account manager of Google; Peter Crome, managing director of Skibo Castle in Scotland; Mike McNamara of the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS); David Dalby of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and Rebecca Johnson of Bloomberg TV (Hotel Section).

It is a highly competitive field so this has made the judging of entries very exciting.
